Dear Sofa: You Complete Me

I have a couch. I have a couch! I want to shout it from the rooftops!

You don't understand. It's been nearly four months. Four months since I went to Ikea, picked out the couch I wanted and then was told it would be "a month, possibly two" until it was in stock. I'm so excited I almost want to unplug my computer and set it up on my coffee table just so I can type this while sitting on My. New. Couch!

*deep breaths* I'm also relieved because it almost didn't get inside the apartment. The delivery guys had to carry it up my landlord's deck, tip it over the railing and down into the stairwell leading to my back door. I asked one of the guys, "You've seen worse, right?" His response: "Well, no." Sure, it'll take a small army to get the thing out of here when I eventually move, but who cares? Couch!

See, the only seating in my living room had been a big club chair and its ottoman. Not so good for having people over. Even having just one guest meant one of us (usually me) had to sit on the ottoman, which is okay for a while until you realize you really want to lean back without toppling over.

Now everyone is invited to my place! Come see and experience the wonder of being able to stretch your legs out while watching TV. So happy.

Looks like an excellent place for a catnap, too.
