Happy 2006!

Guess it's time to toss out my calendars. I'll miss you, Hoosier basketball players of years past. Sorry I didn't use you more often, Mad-Libs-a-day. It was good while it lasted, random flower calendar that was 50 percent off from Pier One.

Rang in the new year in appropriately alcohol-infused fashion. Friend Terri from The Post held a bash at the Pharmacy Bar in Adams Morgan. Open bar! Cake! Good times. Here I am about 3.5 drinks in with Doris, Nathan and Kendra. It was the first time in more than a year that I deigned to wear tights (not too bad) and eye makeup (probably would have been okay if I had applied it evenly, d'oh!).

I've never really been much for resolutions. I suppose I'll try to keep up with the blog, cook more, read more, the usual. Maybe go to at least one museum a month? That's a more concrete goal. You'd think it wouldn't be hard in this town, but life and laziness have a way of sucking the time away.

So I didn't do Christmas cards this holiday season, erg. Mark that down as another resolution for '06. But you all should know that I was thinking about you over the holidays and loved every card that I got. I'm thinking that goes out to the three people who actually still read this thing. It was a weird Christmas, working. Not awful, but I missed my family, especially because they were all together in San Francisco. (Stay out of daily journalism, kids.) Craziest gift: a fancy juicer from my brother. I'm gonna sprout rabbit ears with the amount of carrot-apple juice I've been downing. Thanks, Rico!

Aww. Such cute pics. Sorry I missed all the fun, but I'm glad I got a chance to meet all your friends at the birthday/Rose Bowl bash. (I forgot my blogger password -- Melissa)
