Maillot Rouge

Presenting my Orbea Volata! Took the plunge and bought a zippy road bike. Orbea is a bicycle maker in Spain. I would make some sort of pithy comment in Spanish now, but I don't know any except maybe ay carumba!, which I'm not sure fits. The bike does have Italian parts. Mamma mia! Most important, it's red and pretty. Oh la la!

I've taken her out for a few spins now (17 miles, 22 miles, 42 miles!!). So far the fall count = 2. I did have an impressive bruise/scrape as proof. Mostly I've been busy shopping online for bike-related clothes and accessories -- it's like Christmas with all the new toys.

Still haven't come up with a name for her. I'm thinking something Spanish. An online list of female Spanish names offers one that would be a propos: Aidia, which means "help." Or I guess it'd have to be Aidia! ("Help!") Bonus: It's a palindrome. Doesn't quite roll of my tongue, though. Will have to keep looking. Suggestions welcome!

The Tour de France starts July 1! Now that Lance is out, I may have to switch my loyalties to Iban Mayo and team Euskaltel-Euskadi, the unofficial Basque national team. I even bought a water bottle with the team logo and "Orbea" on it. Andale!

Angie, let me know if you like the bike...I was thinking about getting an Orbea as well, but then I wouldn't have any excuses left NOT to cycle to work - Yiwen

So cute! I need a new bike, but I'm a mountain off road kind of gal. (I will, however be seeking something in red!)
As for a name.....how about calling her "Red"? Speedracer? Raspberry (for the scrapes you got while falling??)

"Epicrain" is freaking awesome. That's my vote.

You look quite sporty! Quel actif, as the French prolly don't say.

I'm not sure what to name your bike--maybe something like; night rider, or; speed racer. I have a question for you--what kind of camera do you have that allows you take such SUPER crisp pictures?!?!?! I'm looking for a model number/brand/etc. Thanks! This is Jason Canlas--a friend of uncle Rico's. I started with Eric and we did our internship together.

Thanks!!!! PS--my wife and I agree your blog is the best one we've ever seen.

wow, uh, thanks! you clearly need to read some more blogs ;)

my camera is an Olympus D-540. i believe it's 3 megapixel. got it a couple years ago, and i know there's at least a D-545 or some update that's even smaller and snazzier. another thing that helps for good pics: lotsa sunlight!
