So I've been in D.C. for nearly five months now. Five months! Feels like I've been here for ages. People still ask me, "So how are you settling in?" It's kind of them to ask, but I want to respond: "I was settled weeks ago! Let's move on to other awkward small talk, please."
One of my favorite things here: Getting asked for directions by tourists. I totally know where you want to go and can tell you in great detail! I really live here now!

Ew. Yes, getting kissy noises when I expected "Where's Rhode Island Avenue?" is not something I care to experience again. *shudder*
